Maxxis tyre ASSEGAI 27.5x2.6 EXO TR folding (black)
A new tyre called Assegai. Greg Minnaar, three-time world champion, three-time overall World Cup winner and a legend of the sport, even collaborated on the development of the new tread.
"My idea was to design a tyre that reflects the iconic treads of the Maxxis brand," says Greg Minnaar. "I started in the centre of the pattern with a combination of Minion DHF and Minion DHR II. The reason was that the DHF rolls well and gives confidence on hard ground, in corners, on wet roots and rocks. The DHR II added speed and aggression under braking.
Later we added extra knobs to get a better wheel feel under load and a consistent feel all the way to the side knobs. I also cant leave out my favourite tyre – the High Roller. Together with the Maxxis experts we created reworked side knobs that have very similar characteristics to the original. But with the new support they are excellent for carving corners on flat ground.
Finally, I took the tread height from the Shorty. As the knobs are well supported, the additional height can bite into the ground in dry and dusty conditions."
- EXO - protects the tyre sidewalls against cuts or punctures
- Dual Compound - the harder centre compound (62a) provides low rolling resistance with slow wear, while the softer compound (57a) used on the sides offers excellent side shaping and great cornering grip, whether in rain or dry conditions
- Casing with 60TPI thread density
- Tubeless ready Kevlar folding bead
- Maximum recommended pressure 40 PSI/2.8 bar
- Weight 1020 g
