Tacx NEO 3M smart trainer

Tacx NEO 3M smart trainer

Smart direct-drive trainer with a moving base

The Tacx NEO 3M is a smart direct-drive (direct drive) cycling trainer that follows on from the popular NEO 2T model. The main novelty is the built-in moving plates, thanks to which the bike moves naturally forward, backward and sideways while riding. Training in one place is thus more comfortable and closer to riding outdoors. The trainer works on the principle of a magnetic brake with a virtual flywheel, is very quiet and needs no calibration.

Movement like on the road

The integrated moving plates allow the bike to move 2.5 cm forward and 2.5 cm backward (5 cm in total). They complement the trainer’s natural side tilt, which is more symmetrical than on the NEO 2T. The movement relieves the saddle area, wrists and back on longer rides. If you prefer a fixed position, you can lock the movement with the rotary knobs on the rear legs.

Power and realistic simulation

• **Power of up to 2200 W** handles even maximum sprints.
• **Climb simulation of up to 25 %** and improved response at low speeds, i.e. on steep hills and when training in ERG mode.
• **Descent simulation:** on a descent the motor drives the flywheel, so the bike spins up by itself as it does outdoors.
• **Surface simulation:** in cooperation with the Tacx Training app and other platforms the trainer imitates riding on cobblestones or gravel.
• **Accuracy of ±1 %** in measuring power, speed and cadence.

Quiet operation and simple use

The frictionless magnetic brake is practically inaudible – under high load only a small internal fan can be heard. The power supply is now integrated in the body of the trainer, so no external adapter is needed. You can also ride without a mains connection – power is needed only for descent simulation and additional functions. The trainer is ready to ride in a few minutes, the legs fold for storage and a built-in handle makes carrying easier. LED lighting under the trainer changes colour according to the training intensity.

Compatibility and connection

The trainer communicates via ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth FTMS, so it works with Zwift, TrainerRoad, Tacx Training and other apps. It handles two simultaneous Bluetooth connections and an unlimited number of ANT+ devices. Data are uploaded automatically to Garmin Connect. For a more stable connection during virtual races you can buy the Tacx Smart Network Adapter (Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz or Ethernet) separately.
