Rubena Gripper Ice tyre 28x1.75 700x40 (622-42) V84 wire (black)
Tyres with studs are intended for winter conditions. Mitas winter tyres offer the highest quality of studs. A carbide tip in an aluminium body guarantees the lowest possible weight and the highest wear resistance. A stud can cope with several thousand kilometres. Of course the tip wears down slightly and the stud is pushed slightly into the tread, which has no effect on the quality of the ride
and none on the effectiveness of the stud itself.
For new tyres it is advisable to run them in over a distance of 40-50 km. The studs settle in their seating. During this process, heavy stress on the studs, especially hard braking, is not recommended.
The effectiveness of the studs depends on their number and placement in the tread. In general, the best performance can be achieved on packed snow and frozen asphalt. In deep snow or, conversely, on hard granite setts, the effect is smaller to very small. Inflation pressure has a significant influence on the behaviour of a studded tyre. The effectiveness of the studs increases on an underinflated tyre. Higher inflation reduces the noise accompanying riding on a hard surface. The limits of riding on these tyres must be sought carefully and responsibly. No description can match personal experience.
Riding bicycles fitted with studded winter tyres is not restricted by legislation in any way.
