The Mavic Comete 85 Disc rear full-carbon built wheel is engineered for road use and time trials, where maximum aerodynamic efficiency is the priority. The rim with a high profile of 85 mm and an internal width of 23 mm uses the UST Tubeless Ready tubeless standard, which allows riding at lower pressure for better grip and a reduced risk of punctures. The recommended minimum tyre width is 28 mm at a maximum pressure of 5.5 bar (80 PSI).

The lacing consists of 21 straight-pull spokes with an aerodynamic profile tested in a wind tunnel to achieve the lowest possible rotational drag. For optimal power transfer and a long service life, a 2× crossed lacing is used on the cassette side, while the opposite side is laced radially, which effectively balances spoke tension and increases wheel stability.

The aluminium hub spins on premium ceramic bearings with very low friction. Fast and reliable engagement is ensured by the Instant Drive 360 freehub body with a 40-tooth ratchet. The wheel is designed for a 12×142 mm thru axle and for mounting a brake disc with the Center Lock system.
