The Schwalbe Romy is a brand-new and key addition to the Schwalbe MTB portfolio for 2026. It is designed as the ultimate all-rounder, intended to simplify tyre choice for most riders – from trail riding to demanding enduro.

The Romy sits exactly between the light XC tyres and aggressive downhill models (such as the Magic Mary). Schwalbe presents it as a tyre with which you "cant go wrong".

• Use: Trail, All-mountain and lighter Enduro.
• Bikes: Great for classic bikes and light E-MTBs (Light-Assist).
• Position: Works great on both the front and rear wheel. It is often combined with a more aggressive front for maximum grip in extreme conditions, but on its own it offers a balanced mix of traction and speed.

2. Construction and technology

The Romy benefits from the latest Schwalbe innovations, including the move to a radial construction:

• Radial Design (on PRO versions): The casing fibres run at a different angle, which lets the tyre conform better to the terrain. The result is a larger contact patch, better damping and noticeably more grip at the same pressure.
• Three families of versions:
• Race Pro: Focused on low weight (around 970 g for 29x2.40) and speed.
• Trail Pro: Balanced protection and weight for all-day rides.
• Gravity Pro: The most robust version with Apex protection, intended for hard use (weight around 1230 g).

3. Tread pattern and compounds

• Tread pattern: It has aggressive genes but is optimised for low rolling resistance. The centre blocks ensure smooth rolling, while the prominent side knobs hold in corners.
• Addix compounds: It most often appears in the Soft compound (orange) for grip or MID (blue) for longer life and speed.
