The ULTRA SHIFT Chorus DB™ SHIFTING 12x2 is connected to the two-piston brake calipers by hydraulic hoses. Mineral oil is used as the fluid (not included in the package, it must be purchased separately, see Accessories). Campagnolo DB brake calipers are made to the FLAT-MOUNT standard.

The levers themselves are only 8 mm taller compared with current models of standard shift levers. However, according to Campagnolo, a 98 % match with the grip of standard EPS shift levers has been achieved. The taller levers made it possible to fit a reservoir of mineral oil. This reservoir is easily removable, which is important for any servicing or replacement of a damaged lever. In addition, this simple system makes it easy to choose which of your brake levers will operate the front or rear brake caliper.

The shifting is equipped with a system that Campagnolo calls AMS (Adjustable Modulation System). With the help of a 2.5 mm Allen key, this system allows the rider to easily set the softness/firmness of the brake lever and thereby modulate the onset of braking force. The levers also make it possible to adjust the distance of the brake/shift lever from the handlebars. The shifting traditionally offers a perfect ergonomic shape and an intuitive layout of the individual controls, where each of the 3 levers has its own function: the brake lever, the upshift lever and the downshift lever).

Following feedback from professional team riders, several minor changes were made to the shape of the shifter bodies, brake levers and downshift levers. These changes lead to an even better grip from all hand positions. Riders with smaller hands in particular will appreciate the possibility of bringing the brake levers closer to the handlebars. The brake levers – thanks to a new design – have 3 positions: the SERVICE POSITION, which allows the brake shoes to be opened for wheel removal, POSITION 1 – the position further from the handlebars and POSITION 2, which brings the lever closer to the handlebars.

The lever mechanism is mounted on high-quality ball bearings ensuring the smoothest operation in any conditions. The shifting (as the only one on the market) makes it possible to shift up to 5 sprockets at once (the Ultra Shift system). The larger shape of the lever body provides a more comfortable palm rest. The modified and enlarged shape of the downshift lever then provides greater support for the thumb. The levers are covered with new Vari-Cushion™ silicone covers providing high comfort even on extremely long rides. The brake levers are made of duralumin.

The package includes a mechanism for adjusting the front derailleur cable tension. The new 12s shifting also includes special cabling called MAXIMUM SMOOTHNESS, which contains special housings, Teflon cables and duralumin ferrules with a guide tube. This cabling reduces cable friction to a minimum and thus contributes to an even smoother operation of the whole system.
