The Mavic Crossmax SL Ultimate 30 racing built wheelset was designed with direct input from top athletes for the needs of modern cross-country. It is an exceptionally light, stiff and dynamic set intended for uncompromising speed on the race track and in demanding terrain.
The wheels are based on all-carbon rims made of 100% unidirectional carbon fibres. Adaptive Layup technology strategically optimises the distribution of carbon – it reinforces the rim where the spokes attach and removes material where it is not needed. This saves 70 g on each rim, which brings lightning-fast acceleration and low inertia on climbs without compromising overall stiffness and durability.
An internal rim width of 30 mm gives wider tubeless tyres firm support at lower pressures, ensuring excellent traction and reliable control on technical descents. The Clincher Tubeless Ready system allows easy use of tubeless tyres, which minimises the risk of punctures and improves rolling resistance.
Efficient transfer of all the pedalling power is ensured by lightweight Infinity hubs combined with the Instant Drive 360 engagement system. The lacing consists of 24 straight pull, flat, double-butted steel spokes on both wheels. The double non-contact crossing of the lacing ensures optimal vertical compliance and consistent spoke tension for precise tracking. The automatic play adjustment of the QRM Auto industrial bearings guarantees smooth running and a long service life without the need to adjust play manually.
