The ASTR model brings all the features of the ASTR RS at an affordable price: from aerodynamic improvements to modern gravel geometry.
The ASTR is ready for every fast ride or gravel race on any type of terrain. Like the ASTR RS, the ASTR has a tyre clearance of 47–52 mm (52 millimetres with 1x gearing and 47 millimetres with 2x gearing) for better grip and comfort.
Modern performance geometry also demands greater stability because of ever rougher terrain combined with higher speeds. A head tube angle of 71.5 degrees ensures faster steering. The ASTR features a steeper seat tube (74 degrees), which gives better climbing performance and power transfer than a less steep seat tube.
The product developers kept the chainstays as short as possible so that tyres up to 52 millimetres fit, without losing the responsive feel when accelerating. In addition, the bottom bracket is slightly lower than on comfort-oriented bikes. This provides greater stability at high speed. Finally, the head tube height is lower, so you sit more aerodynamically on the bike. In short, the result is a modern race geometry tailored to ambitious gravel racers.
By adding the ASTR to its range, Ridley underlines its ambition to give everyone a chance to own an ASTR: from ambitious amateurs to the most dedicated professionals.
About Classified
Classified is an innovative rear hub system that effectively replaces the front derailleur and a double chainset. It lets the rider have two gear steps (the equivalent of a large and a small chainring) hidden right in the rear hub. Switching between these "virtual chainrings" is lightning fast and done wirelessly with a button on the handlebars, which is very convenient because you can shift even under heavy load and on any terrain. The Classified system offers a wide gear range like a classic 2x system, but with the simplicity and reliability of a 1x groupset, and it also improves aerodynamics and reduces the risk of chain drop.
